Cryptids from the Damned Platoon by Thony Aiuppy

“After the atrocious upset the Nazis faced by the allies, they have gone underground. There have been murmurs for some time that the S.S. are scheming once again to invoke the fourth reich.” Someone speaks, “If all goes according to plan—we will be able to redeem this lost cause.” “Allied spies have observed an anomaly occurring at an old ruined theme park somewhere in the outer reaches of this surreal realm.” A man in a lab coat is pouring liquid from a beaker into a vial, surrounded by beakers and test tubes. Behind him is a cryo-chamber with distorted bodies inside. He speaks, “Once we realized the Confederate statues held the remains of dead soldiers, it was only a matter of time before we could resurrect our dead Nazi brethren. However, the DNA found from the soldiers would not suffice. It wasn’t until we found a specimen with XX chromosomes hidden inside a sculpture dedicated to the Daughters of the Confederacy that we were able to inseminate our dead—not to resurrect, but to create new, eternal, life!!” Narration: “Dr. Desanity has been wrapping up his occult experiments under the express leadership of one Baron Von Sickrott."

Parachuting figures are dwarfed by a landscape marked with colonial architecture. “What’s this place called again, Sarge? “Dixie World.” Narration: “Now it’s up to the Cryptids from the Damned Platoon to squelch the krauts once and for all—“ “—before they procure the ultimate abomination and wreak havoc on an interdimensional scale.” Four anthropomorphic monstrous figures are wearing military uniforms, labeled with names and ranks: PVT Duval, the new guy; PFC Wells, ordinance; CPL Brandywine, intel; Sgt ‘Sarge’ Stetson, leader of the pack. One of them says, “Guess this is where Confederate statues go to die.” Another, “Quit yer ponderin’ and let’s haul ass!”

Inside a building, one speaks into a walkie-talkie, “Wells, do you copy?” From off-panel, “Wells here, over.” “Wells, set the charges!” “Copy that, croak!” Another figure crouching down says, “Sarge, sir, we’re all clear.” The cryptos bust open the doors to a room of Nazis. “Eat lead, ratzis!” “Amerikaners, nooo! Herr doctor! Ugh! Scheisse! Save the doctor!”

A Nazi in a military uniform says, “Herr Doctor, we need to go now! The verdammt cryptos are breaking through the blast doors!” The doctor, still at his beakers, replies, “But this, this is the breakthrough of a lifetime, Baron Von Sickrott!" A cryptid grabs Von Sickrott and holds a gun to his head. “Put the test tubes down, Desanity. I’ve got you and your ole pal Von Sickrott right where I wantcha.” From off-panel, over walkie-talkie, “Sarge, come in, over—Sarge, over” Desanity looks closely at a test tube and mutters, “Just…sec…” Over walkie-talkie, “Sarge get out of there. The place is about to blow!” Sarge runs away as Sickrott appears to be on fire, screaming, “Verdammt you insolent freaks!”

“Over walkie-talkie, “Anyone got eyes on Sarge? Sarge, do you copy? Croak—Duval, Brandywine, what’s your location?” A cryptid says, “Brandywine here, over. Duval’s with me.” Another, “Hold up. Something up ahead. Wells, I got eyes on Sarge.” They are standing outside of a building that seems to have been bombed. One last Nazi offensive: Sarge works to disarm a Nazi, and says, “What happened?” Nazi: “Scheisse!” Another cryptic: “Not sure, but my guess is that some nosy Nazis must’ve been poking their sniffer around. Detonated one of the charges and set off some sort of chain reaction.” Another: “Croak. Any sign of Dr. Desanity or Baron von Sickrott?” The cryptids, silhouettes against large Confederate statues, say, “None. There wasn’t a trail or track left behind. Like, poof. Be gone!” Sarge says, “…gonna have one helluva snafu to mop up. Let’s get out of here before more Krauts show their fascist faces. No time like the present to shake ass back to base.”

“All in all, the Cryptids from the Damned Platoon returned to their base camp to fight another day. But unbeknownst to Sergeant Stetson and his band of weird warriors, a vile amalgam waits—“ “—writhing in the explosive concoction of contempt.” A partially melted and mutated figure, two Nazis morphed into one, merged at A monstrous figure—appearing to be Von Sickrott and Desanity morphed into one mutated, monstrous, partially melted being—has a mace for one hand and a gun in the other, shouting, “You haven’t seen the last of me, you damned dirty bastards! No matter what it takes, I will get you and your cryptids from the damned platoon! You hear this—retribution is mine…” Narration: “Enter: DIE DERELICTATOR!! Plotting a course to decimate the brigade of beasts and take over not just the world, but time and space itself.”
