Hold Still Episode 46

1. Enzo is standing next to a bed and bending down to reach something on the ground. “October 3, Sunday.”
2. Kim stands outside in her yard, hands dark either with gardening gloves or soil and palms facing the reader as if to show them off. On one side of her is a wheelbarrow, on the other is a shovel. It looks like there is a freshly dug hole for planting behind her. “October 4. Planted the cherilata, then drove straight to class in Fort Meyers. Our team did our second presentation. After class, went to a food forester meeting and learned about herbal tea.”
3. A close-up of a mug filled with different kinds of leaves and tiny flowers to make herbal tea. “October 5. Worked, then class with quiz. This picture is from yesterday’s herbal tea.”
4. From Kim’s POV: she is lying back in a chair, knees bent to prop up her tablet, which she draws on using a stylus. She is drawing a landscape scene with a path running down the middle. “October 6. Worked. (Did story time at the park.) Then came home and worked on the flyer for the food forest club.”
5. A man in a wheelchair is showing Kim something at a desk. She is bending down to look attentively. The desk is fitted with a lamp and perhaps a computer, though it is unclear what exactly he is working on. They are both dressed in casual clothing. “October 7. Tony’s birthday! Nino’s for breakfast, shopping for suits and earbuds. Trip to Tony’s parents, then class. O’Neill brought us a noodle tray.”
6. Tony is looking at his reflection in a full-body mirror. He looks to be getting fitted in a suit jacket. He is wearing a mask for covid, a suit jacket, shorts, and work boots. There is a woman standing behind him, who looks to be observing the jacket from behind. “October 8. Worked.”

Kim is turned away from the reader, sitting on the floor with legs stretched out and working in front of an empty mushroom monotub. She is drilling a large hole in the side of the tub. This panel is much more minimal than most in the series, with just a white background. “October 15. Set up mushroom monotubs before work. Mixed oyster and wine cap spawn grain into substrate (separately). Worked until 6 p.m.”

In gray and white, a medium shot shows Lynn staring into the distance, clutching a travel coffee mug and looking solemnly nostalgic. She thinks to herself, “I miss those days so hard!”

Tony is standing out his house in a large pot meant for a planted tree. He is shoveling soil from a wheel barrow into the pot. There is a pile of dirt behind him, and an already potted tree off to his side. “October 9. Worked. Planted the Venus mango tree.”

Jim sits up in his hospital bed. There is a book open in his lap, and a tray of food slightly raised above him. He is smiling.

Kim is reading from a book opened to a page full of pictures of different kinds of mushrooms. She is lounging, wearing comfy pants and sitting with her knees up. “September 8. Ordered mushroom cultivating supplies after doing some research. Worked until 7 p.m.”

Kim tends to a rack of bananas hanging from a rod in her house. “September 7. Felt crappy again. Made a big wall calendar to help manage time. Had class today.”
